Reflection

IS101 was insightful throughout the entire semester. I learned a lot about Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I was able to earn my MOS associate certification in all three programs. I also learned a lot about the internet and how it works. I never attended a course like IS101. This course wasn't hard, but it was very complex and challenging. The professor was very helpful throughout the course, and my classmates kept fighting to the end. 6.5 Slide Master, I used this skill while serving in the military. I was my company's SHARP representative and had to give quarterly briefings. I created my own presentation and made it by using the slide master feature. I was able to create different layouts within the presentation which help maintain consistency throughout the presentation.

Crossing the Finish Line

I think I did ok in phase 2. I noticed that my motivation during this phase declined. This is something I will keep in mind for my next semester and work on. Microsoft Excel was a bit difficult because I haven’t had much experience with it besides basic commands. The URL components weren’t difficult for me to understand. The A6 assignment was very helpful in solidifying my understanding of formulas and conditioning formatting.

5.3.1 Deleting and Clearing Cells is the task I decided to choose. Like I said before, I haven’t had much experience with Microsoft Excel besides the basics. While serving in the military, we would use spreadsheets to help consolidate soldiers' clothing records. When auditing our records, we will consolidate all personnel records in Microsoft Excel and clear the cells for soldiers who are no longer with the unit. I had to review over 3,000 records and constantly delete or clear cells I no longer needed.

I will ensure that all of my protocols within the URL are followed up by an S, to ensure it is secure.

I will take what I’ve learned in phases 1 and 2 and apply them to phase 3. I always try to do my best the first time, so I don’t need to change my mindset.

Beyond The Surface

During phase one of IS101, I believe I started out well compared to my last semester. I noticed in my last semester that I wasn’t balanced in all phases of life and would overwhelm myself with my schoolwork. This semester, I’m learning to prioritize my mental balance so that my schoolwork is manageable and doesn’t become overwhelming. In future phases, I plan to be more intentional with my time and energy. Even though I’ve been participating in the bonus assignments, I’m not putting forth the effort I know I’m capable of. My goal moving forward in future phases is to continue to prioritize balance and move more intentionally when it comes to my assignments. The skill I chose was 4.10.1 Citations and References. I used this skill in a previous college course from 2015. We had to write an essay and cite our sources through in-text citations and provide a complete reference page at the end. Before IS101, I learned this skill through trial and error, but then IS101 taught me how to properly create in-text citations and manage my sources through practice and repetition until I retained the steps. My plan for the MO-110 Word certification exam is to recognize the tasks I’ve had trouble with and constantly practice those task for two to three hours daily until I’m proficient.

As I age, I realized that this world moves in a specific way and each moment in life has a specific code or meaning, and the goal is to get into the inside of life and gain understanding of what those moments actually mean. What I mean by "get inside of life" is to get “in tune” with who you really are and not what people want you to be. We are constantly bombarded with influences and projections that are placed on us daily without realizing they don’t align with who we are and what our inner core desires. Become aware of the reality and begin to tune into your true self without fear.

Hello World

My name is Julius. I'm from Boston, Massachusetts, but reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. I enjoy reading, learning, running, and doing crossword puzzles. I have two brothers and one sister who are all older than me. I'm currently working as a Parole officer in Clark County. I served in the United States Air Force for 16 years. As a child, I was fascinated with buttons. Anywhere I went, and there was a button to be pressed, I pressed it. I have a German Shepard and his name is Caesar.

My first impression of IS101 is that the course seems to be very intense. The discussions and assignments in this course are very thorough. There is tons of information on Microsoft Office applications, keyboard shortcuts, desktops, mobile devices, hardware, system software, and applied labs. The labs are very helpful in learning how to set up and install many devices and system software.

My experience with signatures in Microsoft Outlook was gained while serving in the military. We had to use Microsoft Outlook to communicate in our organization. We also had to create a signature within Microsoft Outlook with your name, rank, position, and unit you were assigned to. I learned this task mostly through trial and error.
